Pattern making is a mandatory and most crucial stage before launching a collection into production.
At this stage, we create a real model of the product to check the fit, work out the finishing of all joints and seams, test the materials and finalise the parameters.
What is included in the service
1. Obtaining initial data
– working with ready-made patterns or patterns created by our designer;
– using technical specifications, sketches, photos or a finished reference product;
– determining requirements for the silhouette, functional and decorative elements.
2. Technological preparation
– selection of the optimal seam processing technology depending on the fabric and product design;
– working out internal seams and joints (closed, French, overlock, flat-seam stitching, etc.) to achieve neatness and durability of the product;
– coordination of the internal processing of the product in accordance with the requirements of the fabric and the wishes of the customer:
▫ the option to choose an economy finishing option for basic products;
▫ or premium finishing for the luxury segment (e.g., closed seams, decorative edging);
▫ the right choice of finishing directly affects the cost of sewing both the sample and the entire batch.
– testing the strength of seams for tear resistance, elasticity and compliance with quality standards;
3. Testing of materials and functions
– checking the behaviour of the main fabric and lining: shrinkage, stretch, elasticity, shape recovery after deformation;
– checking functional elements (zippers, buttons, hooks, decorative accessories) under real conditions of use; – assessment of colour retention and fabric stability after wet-heat treatment. Sewing a test sample (first assembly)
– manufacturing the product in compliance with all technological requirements;
– conducting several fittings at different stages of sewing (after basic assembly, after forming the main components, before final sewing) to track the accuracy of the fit and conformity of the design;
– checking the fit: fit on the shoulders, chest, waist, hips, balance of the product, sleeve length and overall length of the product;
– demonstrating the actual appearance of the product with internal finishing so that the customer can evaluate the result before final sewing.
5. Fitting and finishing
– joint final fitting with the customer to assess the fit, comfort and appearance;
– agreement on the parameters of length, width, proportions, location of seams and decorative elements;
– making changes to the patterns and design according to the customer's comments;
– production of the final sample taking into account all adjustments.
6. Final quality control
– checking the accuracy of the fit, the stability of the seams and the reliability of the joints after finishing;
– checking the cleanliness of the internal finish of the seams and decorative details;
– transferring the approved sample to the customer as a reference for serial sewing.
Financial terms
• Cost of sewing a sample: +100% to the cost of sewing a product in a batch (due to individual manual work, testing and technology development).
• Payment is made after the sample is ready and approved.
• The choice of the type of internal finish affects the final cost of sewing both the sample and the batch.
• In case of repeated changes after approval, an additional fee is charged for each new iteration.
